The Gambia Red Cross Society enjoy vibrant youth participation, about 80% of the volunteers (about 25,000) are young people. They play an active role in organizing Fundraising events, First Aid and Relief operations across the Seven Branches of the National Society. Volunteers in the National Society are the human resource based of the Society and actively involves in public First Aid coverage during national and international events, disaster response and management, internal human resources capacity building, social mobilizations during national immunizations days, major donor to the national Blood bank, implementation of food security programmes, and are engaged in HIV/AIDS programmes, home based care for chronically ill patients, care for refugees, and organize both national and international youth forums/camps.

For actualisation of the youth engagement activities, there is a Youth Commission with a composition of a National Youth Chairperson, Vice National Youth Chairperson, Area Youth Representatives from all 7 Regional Branches and Four Co-opted Members. Thus, the function of the Youth Commission is to coordinate the activities of youths at Governance level and at Management level there is a Volunteer Management Coordinator under which you have the Youth Officer.
